Delete DrWtsn32.log to free up space

Just found a large file while defragmenting my hardrive. The DrWtsn32.log file holds about 400MB. That's a lot!

It is safe to delete this file?

After googling, I found out that the file was generated from Dr. Watson Windows XP application itself. It is a program error debugger that detects and diagnoses program errors and creates User.dmp and DrWtsn32.log files to contain the diagnostic data.

In Windows NT these files are stored in the %systemroot% folder. In Windows 2000, these files are stored in the %systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\DrWatson folder.

For Windows XP, these files are stored in the %systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson folder.

The DrWtsn32.log file is appended each time a program error occurs; the User.dmp file is overwritten each time.

To turn off the Dr Watson debugger, apply the following Windows NT / Windows 2000 / Windows XP registry hack:

Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Key: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug
Name: Auto
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 0 disable
Value: 1 enable

To re-enable Dr Watson, you can change Auto back to 1 or from the command line type drwtsn -i.

For the conclusion, just delete DrWtsn32.log anyway. It's no harm whatsoever.

Top 8 New Year Resolutions

Bill Vaughan
An optimist stays up until midnight to see the New Year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.

My resolutions :
  1. Keep changing cell phone after a few months is really not helping me a better understanding of gadget technology.
  2. Want to utilize current gadgets. Really don't need an iPod, iPhone and a palm at the same time.
  3. Keeping your photos from digital cameras for over 2 years is bad for hard drive space. Back it up to a DVD is a good idea.
  4. Microsoft must have good reasons and purposes for creating Chkdsk, Disk Clean Up, and Defrag in Win XP. Just lost my hard drive because not using it.
  5. Play more games. Scientists say they're good for you and improve your visual skills. But you always knew that.
  6. Always remember that these are not my computers, these are not my notebooks, this is not my personal internet connection, and I exist only to serve the needs of the company and its employees.
  7. Bosses: You can't live with them, and you can't live without them. Career and salary are in their hands. Just try to get a long with them.
  8. Try New Things. Spent all of last year bored out of your mind? Take the plunge this year and try something new. Make the most out of your year by resolving to try more new things.

My last resolution came from this dumbspot site. You can try your New Year Resolution from here.

Many people look forward to the New Year for a new start on old habits.

Happy New Year 2009!

Emoticons Review: Onion Head

Onion Tou (Tou means head in Chinese), famously known as Onion-kun, is the creation of Taiwanese Mangaka Ethan (aka E, the Father of Onions). He started drawing back in 2005, when trying some 2D functions in MSN Shell. When his earlier versions was well received online, he drew more onions. After that Onion-kun became an online hit and can be seen all over websites, forums, IM or blogs.

Onion-kun is primarily an emoticon character. There are 93 Onion-themed animated emoticons 70 Onion-themed head shots, and 7 Onion-themed comic strips. Aside from Onion-kun, 3 additional characters appears in the comic strip: Onion-Mei, who is Onion-kun's little sister (Mei means little sister in Chinese, by the way), Delinquent Scallion, who is Onion-kun's arch enemy.

From his Interview with Sohu on September 2007, actually E is a 3 artist. Hobbies: mangas, anime, fantasy novels, and collecting toy models.

His favorite emoticon is the one where Onion-kun runs around in joy: This emoticon took him the longest to create, he really want Onion-fans to smile from their heart when they see it. As for the one that most often represent his feelings, he think it's Onion-kun in rage.

When Onion-kun became popular, people start making all kinds of requests : request for collaboration, request for adaptations, request for specific designs, request for interviews, etc. It's really a bother... He wasn't really prepared. "State of emergency" would probably be a good way to describe his situation.

He is currently working on an Onion-themed Manga --that's his main project for now. He thinks the manga is necessary because you can only get a limited amount of audience empathy with simple emoticons and short dialogues. The internet is pretty much a separate world from the real world. In order to market

Onion-kun in the real world, he need something more sophisticated, hr need to make him a product of culture. He is constantly thinking about what to put in the first Onion-Tou Manga, when the book is published, he hope it would be a milestone for himself.

People uses Onion-kun as an extension of their emotions, their feelings, everyone have different feelings so everyone have a different reason for liking Onion-kun.

By using Onion-kun, people let themselves become Onion-kun, and Onion-kun becomes their spokes- person.

Onion-kun was originally created as a representation of himself on the internet. In the beginning, he drew the emotions based on my personal needs, so a lot of the earlier emoticons really represent feelings that he want to express. Of course, he cannot make exaggerated faces like Onion-kun, but the feels are similar..

He doesn't really mind if people equate himself with Onion-kun, but he would prefer that they separate the two. He has created a separate persona for himself on the net, i.e. Onion-E. If people do not distinguish between the two, then Onion-E would become meaningless. Onion-kun needs his own story and personality. If he has to step to the background, that's fine.

He hopes the fans would focus their attention on his work and on not himself personally. He is, after all, not a stage artist or a stage entertainer. People should expect a cute, lively Onion. He would like to work in the background; it's the kind of working environment that he wishes for, one where he can work without interruptions.

We surely once in a while receiving news about security theft, fraud and phising sites and yet after some sample of passwords (primarily from the UK), it might be a good time to change your current passwords to a more secure one.

10. 'thomas' (0.99‰)

Soccer teams name are another favorite to choose as a password.

8. 'monkey' (1.33‰)

7. 'charlie' (1.39‰)

Another common name in UK and more popular than thomas. Or maybe they were referring to its slang meaning.

Maybe the reason why 1 in 700 people choose this 'qwerty' because this is the easiest letter they can find in the keyboard.

Search Engine Optimization Tag

Start tag

This is based on the SEO theory that links to posts inside your blog are more important than links to your home page. I have selected three posts I want to promote along with my site’s name.

You will do the same thing. Keep it simple and spread our good work around to both share and build some ratings! Pick three posts that you feel are your best or those you simply want to promote. Your site name is listed with your 3 selected posts beneath.

Once you have your post up: Add the sites and post links of the folks you tagged onto your post. Try to add the site and post links to anyone involved to maximize the effectiveness. Tag a minimum of 5 people!

Try your best not to double tag people so it will spread better! Please actually read the posts from everyone so you can see some really good work from our beloved blogging friends! Make your title a little different from mine to avoid repetitive titles. Please try maintaining some friendly updates to your post too.

Happy 25th Birthday to Smiley Icon

For those of us who feel pretty cutting-edge because we've been using smileyfaces and other emoticons in our emails and instant messages for the pastfew years, guess what? The smiley emoticon is 25 years old.

One of the first uses of a colon, dash and parenthesis to form a sidewayssmiley face occurred born on Sept. 19, 1982, when Carnegie Mellon University Professor Scott E. Fahlman suggested in an online academic bulletin board—the precursor to chat rooms and instant messaging—that there was a need for symbols to convey emotion, the nuance of which often is oftenmissed by readers.

"I propose the following character for joke markers: :-) Read it sideways," Fahlman wrote. "Actually, it is probably more economical to mark things thatare NOT jokes, given current trends. For this, use :-( "

Twenty five years later, emotions for every kind of emotion, mood, and emphasis take the form of colorful, often animated faces. Fahlman's look back on his emoticon history web page is a good read, especially since he answers emoticon-critics ' charges that "good writers should have no need to explicitly label their humorous comments." In part, he says, "If Shakespeare were tossing off a quick note complaining about the lack of employee parking spaces near the Globe Theater, he might have produced the same kind of sloppy prose that the rest of us do. Besides, Shakespeare's work is full of clichés and his spelling was atrocious. :-)"

To celebrate the birth of the little guy who has made a big splash and spawned all kinds of emoticons, Fahlman and his Carnegie Mellon colleagues have started an annual contest for innovation in tech-assisted, person-to-person innovation. Yahoo! is sponsoring The Smiley Award, which comes with a $500 cash prize.

The Piss-Screen

Let your toilet become interactive

"Too pissed to drive?"
"Take a Taxi instead"
"Call: 069-733030"
